Kindred Events – Paranormal Festival

These Terms and Conditions apply to all ticket purchases and attendance at the Paranormal Festival organised by Kindred Events. By purchasing a ticket or attending the event, you agree to comply with the terms outlined below.

1. Event Organiser

The Paranormal Festival is organised and operated by Kindred Events. Throughout these Terms and Conditions, “the organiser”, “we”, “us”, or “our” refers to Kindred Events.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By purchasing a ticket and/or attending the event, all attendees agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with these terms, you should not purchase a ticket or attend the event.

3. Attendance at Own Risk

All attendees participate in the Paranormal Festival entirely at their own risk.

Kindred Events, its staff, volunteers, contractors, guest speakers, investigators, and affiliates accept no liability for any injury, illness, psychological distress, loss, damage, or theft of personal property that may occur during the event.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Participation in paranormal investigations
  • Workshops or demonstrations
  • Ghost walks or outdoor activities
  • Mediumship demonstrations
  • Movement around the venue or surrounding areas

Attendees are responsible for ensuring they are physically and mentally capable of participating in event activities.

4. Assumption of Risk and Liability Waiver

By purchasing a ticket and attending the Paranormal Festival, attendees acknowledge that participation in paranormal-themed activities may involve inherent and unavoidable risks.

These risks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Dark or low-light environments
  • Sudden noises or unexpected sensory experiences
  • Uneven surfaces or restricted areas within historic buildings
  • Outdoor environments during ghost walks or investigations
  • Emotional or psychological reactions related to paranormal themes

By attending the event, participants voluntarily assume all risks associated with attendance and participation in any festival activities.

Attendees agree that Kindred Events, its staff, volunteers, contractors, guest speakers, investigators, venue partners, and affiliates shall not be held liable for any injury, illness, loss, damage, or psychological distress arising from participation in the event.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, attendees waive any claims against Kindred Events relating to personal injury, psychological impact, property damage, or other loss incurred during or after the event.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits liability where it cannot legally be excluded under the laws of England and Wales, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

5. Health, Safety and Suitability

Due to the nature of paranormal investigations and related activities, the event may involve dark environments, loud noises, emotionally intense situations, and suggestive themes.

Participation may not be suitable for individuals who:

  • Have existing mental health conditions
  • Are prone to anxiety, panic attacks, or psychological distress
  • Have heart conditions or medical conditions affected by stress
  • Are sensitive to frightening or unsettling environments

By purchasing a ticket and attending the event, attendees confirm that they are mentally and physically capable of participating in the activities offered.

Kindred Events accepts no responsibility or liability for any psychological distress, emotional reaction, or medical issue experienced during or after the event.

If attendees feel uncomfortable or distressed at any time, they should leave the activity immediately and notify a member of staff.

6. Mobility and Accessibility

Some activities associated with the Paranormal Festival may take place in historic buildings or outdoor locations, which may include:

  • Uneven surfaces
  • Narrow staircases
  • Low lighting environments
  • Restricted access areas
  • Public streets and pathways during ghost walks

Certain activities may therefore not be suitable for individuals with mobility difficulties or physical disabilities.

Attendees are responsible for ensuring they are physically able to safely access and participate in the event environment.

Kindred Events cannot guarantee full accessibility for all activities and accepts no liability for injuries caused by environmental conditions.

7. No Guarantee of Paranormal Activity

Kindred Events does not guarantee the occurrence of paranormal phenomena or experiences during any investigation, demonstration, or event activity.

All activities are conducted for entertainment, educational, and cultural purposes only.

8. Tickets and Refund Policy

All ticket sales are final.

Once purchased, tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances, including but not limited to:

  • Change of personal circumstances
  • Travel disruption
  • Illness
  • Failure to attend

Refunds will not be issued after purchase unless the entire event is cancelled by Kindred Events.

In the event of cancellation by the organiser, ticket holders may be offered either:

  • A ticket transfer to a rescheduled event, or
  • A refund at the organiser's discretion.

9. Event Changes

Kindred Events reserves the right to:

  • Change the event schedule
  • Change advertised speakers, investigators, or performers
  • Modify workshops or activities
  • Adjust event timings if necessary

Such changes do not entitle ticket holders to a refund.

10. Age Restrictions

Some event activities may contain themes or content unsuitable for younger audiences.

Attendees under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Parents or guardians are responsible for determining whether event content is appropriate for minors.
Kindred Events accepts no responsibility for psychological or emotional distress experienced by minors attending the event.

11. Behaviour and Conduct

All attendees are expected to behave in a respectful and responsible manner.

Kindred Events reserves the right to remove any attendee from the event without refund if they:

  • Display abusive, threatening, or disruptive behaviour
  • Damage property or equipment
  • Interfere with investigations or event activities
  • Are under the influence of drugs or excessive alcohol

12. Alcohol and Substance Policy

For the safety and enjoyment of all attendees:

Individuals who appear to be intoxicated or under the influence of drugs may be refused entry or removed from the event.
No refund will be issued if an attendee is removed for this reason.

13. Compliance With Instructions

All attendees must follow the instructions of event organisers, investigators, staff, and venue representatives at all times.

Failure to comply with safety instructions may result in removal from the event without refund.

14. Personal Property

Attendees are responsible for the safety and security of their own personal belongings.

Kindred Events accepts no liability for lost, stolen, or damaged items during the event.

15. Damage to Property

Attendees are responsible for any damage they cause to the venue, equipment, or property belonging to the organiser, speakers, vendors, or other attendees.

Kindred Events reserves the right to recover costs associated with repair or replacement of damaged property.

16. Photography and Media

Photography, filming, and recording may take place during the festival.

By attending the event, attendees consent to being photographed or recorded for promotional, marketing, or documentary purposes by Kindred Events or authorised media.

These images or recordings may be used on websites, social media platforms, promotional materials, or other media without compensation.

17. Outdoor Activities

Certain activities, including ghost walks and investigations, may take place outdoors in the town of Whitby.

Participants acknowledge that:

  • Outdoor environments may include uneven surfaces, steps, and public areas.
  • Participants are responsible for wearing suitable clothing and footwear.

Kindred Events accepts no liability for accidents or injuries occurring during outdoor activities.

18. Third-Party Vendors and Speakers

The festival may include independent vendors, speakers, workshop leaders, mediums, and exhibitors.

Kindred Events:

  • Does not endorse or guarantee the claims, services, or products offered by third-party vendors or speakers.
  • Accepts no responsibility for transactions, advice, readings, or services provided by third parties.

Any purchases or services obtained from third parties are entirely at the attendee's own risk.

19. Lost or Stolen Tickets

Kindred Events is not responsible for lost, stolen, or duplicated tickets.

Entry will only be permitted to individuals whose ticket or event accreditation (such as a lanyard or wristband) is recognised by event staff.

20. Entry Refusal

Kindred Events reserves the right to refuse entry or remove any attendee without refund where necessary to maintain safety, security, or the smooth running of the event.

21. Programme and Website Accuracy

While every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of information on the event website and promotional materials, details may change without notice, including:

  • Guest speakers
  • Investigators
  • Workshop schedules
  • Event timings

Such changes do not entitle ticket holders to refunds.

22. Force Majeure

Kindred Events will not be liable for cancellation, delays, or changes caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Severe weather
  • Government restrictions
  • Venue issues
  • Public safety concerns
  • Acts of God or unforeseen circumstances

23. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

Kindred Events will collect and process personal information from attendees for the purposes of ticket processing, event administration, communication, and safety management.

Personal data may include, but is not limited to:

  • Contact details
  • Email address
  • Ticket purchase information

All personal data will be handled in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Kindred Events will not sell or distribute personal data to third parties except where necessary for legitimate event administration purposes, such as ticketing providers, payment processors, or legal obligations.

By purchasing a ticket, attendees consent to the organiser contacting them regarding important event information, updates, or safety notices.

Attendees have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal data in accordance with UK data protection laws.

26. Insurance and Limitation of Liability

Kindred Events maintains appropriate public liability insurance for the organisation of the Paranormal Festival.

However, attendance and participation in the event remain voluntary and at the attendee's own risk.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kindred Events shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental loss, including but not limited to:

  • Travel costs
  • Accommodation expenses
  • Loss of enjoyment
  • Loss of personal income
  • Missed activities due to schedule changes

Nothing within these Terms and Conditions shall limit or exclude liability where it cannot legally be excluded under the laws of England and Wales, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
